#fbf Classroom Tour

Since this is my FIRST EVER blog post, I thought I would do a little get to know me/ #fbf (flash back Friday)!

This year is my second year teaching. I have had the joy of teaching cute little Kinders both years, and have really enjoyed watching them learn and grow.
My favorite color, as you may have guessed 😉, is a teal-ish blue color. I wanted to incorporate that color in my classroom to help put me in a joyful mood on those not so easy days...Yes, we all have them!
I knew too many cool colors might make me feel chilly, so I decided to go for a lighter teal, grey, and mustard color scheme to add in that extra warmth my always freezing self needs! I also wanted to make my classroom feel like home so my little ones would feel comfortable and safe coming to school for the first time, and every day after.

My room has changed quite a bit since last year, but some of the core items and themes have stuck. My reading corner is the section that feels the most like home. My students love cuddling up in the chairs, or on the couch, with their reading buddies and a great book.
Couch: POÄNG Ikea *unavailable*... recovered by my sweet mom, book bins, chairs, reading buddies, frames are from the dollar tree, and the "artwork" are just quotes I typed up to match my theme

I added a writing center this year to make daily 5 writing stations more productive and fun! In my station I have the I can posters from A Cupcake for the Teacher, pens, pencils, smelly erasers, dry erase boards, stamps, alphabet books, dictionaries, writing pages/pads, and magazines.
My cuties love this station!

I learned from last year, that I needed to work on organizing all of the folders that come in daily/weekly. I found these buckets at Ikea and decided to paint them to match my room. I cannot tell you how amazing these have been this year! A crazy organizer's dream!!

Our school has a behavior chart that all grade levels and classrooms use, so I tried to make it match and be as cute as possible...I mean I think it worked, right?! My job chart and Alphabet posters came from Teaching Superkids on TPT. (They were actually what helped start my whole color scheme!)
I also use and 100% recommend Class Dojo, so I decided to make a praise board for my students to always have a place to look to see what they have accomplished, and what all they can do.
My word wall got an upgrade this year by adding ribbons to the letters for easy hanging, and taking down since we have to remove EVERYTHING from our walls each summer...

Another life saver this year has been these nifty little drawers. You wouldn't think they were all that important until you have them and can no longer function without them! My students have not asked once for a new color to replace a lost one, and know that if they find a crayon on the ground they can go put it in the drawer to help a friend who may loose their favorite blue crayon. 😊

I made this "Where are we" sign to help the office and tutors that come in to help out know where we are at all times. They tell me they like it, so I believe them and say that it works!
Side note, I also added a welcome mat at the entrance of my door to make students feel loved and comfortable coming in everyday.

I feel like everyone has these drawers, and I totally understand why. I am telling you, a crazy organizer lives deep within me and this aesthetically pleases my soul!

I hung up these numbers with their names into their cubbies after meet the teacher night. (P.S. switching to the number system was one of my greatest ideas yet!)
In their cubbies, they keep their crayon boxes, writing pads, writing folders, handwriting books, and that little green box that holds their math manipulatives.

My room has come together nicely throughout the year, and I think I have reached a place where I am truly happy with everything!

Thanks for visiting and taking a stroll back in time with me. I cannot wait to document my journey as I continue on living my dream!
