My school is having a STEAM night this year on the Thursday before Easter.
Since it is so close Easter my team thought why not go with the theme that fits so perfectly!
We have a math activity and an engineering activity for the kids and their parents to do when they come to our Kinder booth.
I wanted the math activity to be one that I could also use in my classroom as a review for addition and subtraction, activities that are much needed, but so hard to find find new and creative ideas to keep them fun! I decided that an Easter Egg Hunt the Room would do just that!
My students LOVE write the room activities, and even though they can seem a little chaotic, so do I. They have such great discussions and conversations about their learning as they walk around the room solving their problems.
Math talk is GREAT!
I wanted to go a little out of the box for this activity, so instead of making egg pages with the number sentences on them, I chose to hide the equations in eggs for them to hunt and solve. It is super simple to do, and takes it that extra level to make it so much more engaging for my cuties.
I created the answer sheet and problems I wanted to use for this fun egg hunt.
(This activity could totally be adapted for older grades with different types of problems)
